Pop Pop -

The day we lost you, the heavens weeped for days. And so did I. It’s hard to fathom the world without you here. At your memorial, I felt like I couldn’t get enough air in my lungs.

I closed my eyes in a crowd of people who adored you and prayed for your presence; your gentle strength. You haven’t left me since. You are pulsing through my veins.

This morning, I wept again in the shower, because I knew what you were telling me.
“I am in a peace you can’t imagine. Love fearlessly.”

You are everywhere. The country music at the coffee shop, the sunflowers in your memorial florals, the explosion of spring in the middle of February.
I want to share your gentle love with everyone I meet. I promise to strive to be half the human you were.

I know now that this really is just see you later. Even in death, you know how to make everything alright.
Thank you, Pop Pop. I love you.

Your girl,
Annie Kate
